April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th day of July, began taking piano and guitar lessons from seven years old. Her interest in songwriting was awakened. April Lockhart wrote her first single"Different" at 12 years old. At the age of 14 April was a big devotee of her day singing and writing songs. After a while, she began traveling with her father as well as write her songs either in NY as well as LA. April added other themes to the tune "Take My Hand" for a few of her friends who dealt with issues such as peer pressurization problems, as well as teens who committed suicide. Lockhart has become a sought-after lifestyle blogger and having partnerships with brands that are clean and healthy like Ilia she has gained an impressive fan base. Born without a left hand, Lockhart has a significant part to play in her. However, it's not the entire tale. The account on Instagram of Lockhart doesn't deny the fact that she has a disability. But it also doesn't insist on her disability. What message does it convey? There is more to us than the physical person we are. Our identities are multifaceted and include a myriad of dimensions. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart in a video interview "I do not believe that disability is what defines my character. My goal is not to have an impact on disability, because I've plenty to offer." This doesn't interfere with my life. All is well and I've learned how to adjust. The same is true for my personality, and that it is something to be talked about. Self-acceptance is a long marathon but Lockhart truly inspires me for this aspect. Still she admits she's gone through phases of her body at times being unsure about wearing specific types of clothes that showed the arms of her. She now wears any outfit she wants and posts pictures on Facebook in awe. For her, self-love is an extended journey. It's a journey, I don't think you ever reach your destination. I think it's important to surround yourself with people who can identify and feel your heart.
